Skiing/Boarding Ability
One of our most asked FAQ's is: How good of a skier or boarder do I need to be?
The minimum requirement is the ability to ski/board every run at Apex. And that is not an insignificant requirement; Apex has some very challenging runs that are steep with obstacles (trees and rocks).
You don't need to be an expert and able to fly down every run at high speed, but competent enough to get down comfortably.
You will need to be capable of handling a toboggan as well. You will be trained and, in order to pass, demonstrate that you can handle a toboggan down a double-black run.

First Aid Training
The second most common FAQ is: What level of First Aid training do I need? Click here for more details.
You do not need any. We will train you.
If you already are a medical practitioner, you will still need to qualify to the CSP Advanced First Aid - Basic Life Support (AFA-BLS) protocol. We have ER doctors, nurses, and paramedic patrollers whose advanced skills are augmented with the CSP training so everyone can work together as one cohesive team.

The Good, Bad, Ugly trail is a popular mountain bike, hiking and ski touring route
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Uptrack
While the idea of skiing uphill is foreign to some people, there are those who enjoy the beauty (and solitude) of the backcountry. Uphill travel on groomed runs is prohibited so Apex Mountain keeps the The Good, Bad and Ugly trail maintained for that purpose.
Rescues
Preparing a snow stake anchor to lower a patient near the Juniper run
Incidents can happen anywhere on the mountain and the Patrol is trained to extract patients from any run or location
